All kinds of products are only available, only high reading." Asian Americans, especially Chinese, are known for their high number of people with higher education. A high degree of education will bring a high-paying job and become a decent middle class, which is almost the consensus of all Asian families. However, in the past two years, more and more Chinese parents have discovered that this law has ceased to exist. It is not Wall Street that their children are moving out of the campus, but "Tangjialing."

Since October 2008, the unemployment rate of Asian Americans has increased from 3.8% to 7.5%. In 2009, the Asian unemployment rate increased by 96%. After unemployment, the average Asian student's unemployment time is 30 weeks, which is longer than that of Hispanics and whites.

Statistics show that among the unemployed Asian population, the number of unemployed people with college or higher education has doubled, twice as many as whites. On the contrary, Asians who have not attended high school are losing nearly 50% less than college graduates.

Professor Paul Ong of the Center for Asian and American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, told reporters: "Higher education is no longer an employment guarantee."

Unemployed college students are still waiting to be fed, and the situation of college graduates in 2010 will be even worse. In the interview, many Chinese parents are worried about the employment of the university's graduated children, either as “old people” or “ant families”.

"Ant" is not just Chinese

The 80-year-old Chinese "ant family" living in the Flushing and East Broadway areas is only a microcosm of the post-80s life state of American society. But to become an "ant family" is not just Chinese.

In the United States, the “ant family” group has a more neutral name – “Young Workers”. Peter D. Hart Research Associates, a professional agency in the United States, has conducted a 10-year survey of the group's life from 1999 to 2009. The survey covers many aspects of their lives, such as employment, income, medical insurance, and family life.

According to the report entitled “Young Workers – A Lost Decade”, the “Young Worker” family faced many difficulties and challenges in the process of starting a social life. Compared with 10 years ago, these young people who have more opportunities to go to college have not received higher incomes and better social security. Instead, they face more problems after the depreciation of the university diploma.

A survey of income-expenditure ratio indicators shows that the paying power of young migrant workers fell by 14% after 10 years. only 30% of people have a small amount of savings while meeting basic living needs.
